Amazonian protagonism in Belém

The ACTO pavilion is in the Blue Zone at COP30 to highlight the Amazon as a territory of solutions for the region and the world.

Having the first Conference of the Parties (COP) held in Brazil, in the Amazon region, is highly symbolic for ACTO.

Besides marking Brazil’s return to leadership of the environmental agenda, 33 years after Rio-92, it is an opportunity to draw global attention to the importance of the Amazon as a central element of any regional and global climate solution.

ACTO, as the only multilateral body and protagonist of Amazonian socio-environmental governance, is ready to ensure the region’s sustainable future.

ACTO: United for the Amazon. United for solutions.

ACTO OBJECTIVES AT COP30

At COP30, ACTO will join forces to promote dialogue and partnerships that advance the common Amazon cooperation agenda. As the only multilateral voice dedicated to the Amazon, the Organization will be a leading player in the climate debate, connecting governments, civil society, communities, and science.

The future of the forest depends on local actions that ensure its protection and the global reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. ACTO member countries are committed to zero deforestation by 2030, supported by cooperation and financing plans to adapt to existing impacts.

Through coordinated responses to regional challenges, ACTO transforms Amazon’s potential into innovative and concrete solutions, generating positive impacts at the local and global levels. At COP30, its activities include: presidential meetings, support for the Tropical Forests Forever Fund (TFFF), the launch of the Technical-Scientific Panel, and an interactive space to explore the Amazon Regional Observatory (ARO).

ACTO AND CAF TOGETHER IN COP30 BLUE ZONE PAVILION

ACTO and CAF have joined forces to develop the Latin America, Caribbean, and Amazon Pavilion in the COP30 Blue Zone in Belém. The partnership reflects a shared vision: that the Amazon and other biomes in Latin America and the Caribbean form a region of solutions to the climate crisis and global biodiversity loss.

Combining CAF’s capacity to mobilize resources and innovation with ACTO’s role as a political and articulating body for the eight Amazonian countries, the pavilion will promote cooperation, science, and dialogue to transform climate commitments into concrete actions.

The space will project the voice of the Amazon, Latin America, and the Caribbean at the center of the debate at the Conference of the Parties.
